The years David has spent traveling through Latin America and teaching Latin American literature have inspired his writing. He holds degrees in journalism and Spanish from Penn State, and an MFA from Sarah Lawrence. He currently teaches Spanish, film studies, writing, and journalism at Northwest Academy in Portland, Oregon, and is the founder and editor-in-chief of the online magazine Spectrum Culture
